EDIC Project No. 1286A

Roadway Improvements

Marine Industrial Park

Boston, MA

The Economic Development & Industrial Corporation has completed its design and has currently advertized a public bid opportunity for contractors to perform the work associated with improvement to the Marine Industrial Park Roadways.

The work generally consist of pavement milling an 1 ½” down of the existing surface and replacement with new bituminous surface, installing new pavement markings and crosswalks with improvements to the regulatory signage,  street signs and two directional signs, and the upgrading of wheel chair ramps to bring them to the new code requirements.  Additional improvements to the Pier 10 park are also included.  At the same time the EDIC has also performed a conditions (TV) report on the MIP sanitary sewer system and will be performing repairs to the system as required thru out the park.

Our Preliminary schedule is as follows:

  • Pre-Bid site walk thru: August 25, 2011.
  • Bid Opening: Sept 9, 2011.
  • Begin Construction Activities: Sept. 19, 2011 or shortly thereafter.
  • Construction duration is tentatively scheduled for 11 weeks.

During the project, all attempts will be made to keep the tenants informed of the activities that will be taking place.  Safety is our number one goal and police officers will be with the contractors as required.  All attempts will be made so as not to completely close any roads; however there will be some detours and routing of lane traffic, some work will need to be scheduled in the evenings or weekends.

For further information, or questions and concerns please contact of my staff:  Paul Osborn, Deputy Director Capital Construction at 617-918-9211, Steve Healy, Sr. Project Engineer at 617-918-6207.

Sincerely
